During our tutoring sessions, I will take you through a process at a comfortable pace.
• I will help you with your next assignment, quiz, or test.
• As we go through each topic, I will work the examples and take you through a step-by-step process.
• Then I will have you work the problems and guide you each step of the way.
• At any time you can ask me questions. This is your time to learn.
• I will also offer you simple test taking tips and tricks.
Algebra Topics
There are several Algebra topics I can help you with:
• Solve for x — one and two step equations, distribution, combine like terms.
• Inequalities — solve and graph inequalities ≥ ≤ and inequality word problems.
• Polynomials y = 3(x + 5)(x - 2) — add, subtract, multiply monomials and binomials, divide, and factor.
• Functions — parent functions, independent versus dependent, continuous versus discreet data, vertical line test, function notation.
• Linear Functions — how to find the slope and y-intercept, rise / run, slope from two points, slope from a table, graphs, slope-intercept form y = mx + b, standard form ax + by = c, lines in parallel and perpendicular.
• Systems of Equations — find the solution or break-even point using elimination and substitution. Work on coin and ticket problems.
• Quadratic Functions — how to find the solutions at the x-intercepts, changes in y = ax2 + bx + c, factoring, how to solve applications of quadratic functions.
• Exponential Functions — graphing, how to solve exponential growth and decay situations using y = abx, word problems (population, money, appreciation, depreciation), domain, range, asymptote.
• We can also review general math such as order of operations, proportions, squares, exponents, and other topics as needed.

About Matthew
Matthew has reached the level of Highly Qualified Teacher.
He has tutored Adults and Students all across the country at all levels.
After a career in Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, and Product Management, he looked for ways to give back to the community. As a volunteer, he has taught troubled kids and helped them pass their math state tests. And he volunteered to help adults earn their GED.
From this satisfying experience of helping people reach their goals, he returned to graduate school to get certified as a teacher. Then he spent over 10 years teaching Algebra, general math and robotics in the classroom. Now he works as an online Math Tutor.
Matthew has earned a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering, Master of Business (MBA), and a Master of Education (MEd). He has taught and tutored more than 1000 kids and adults which earned him several teaching awards.
